Why do you suppose that the Dawn of the Dance line got such a short circulation?

It seems that a lot of areas never got wave 2 and I've seen those dolls, as well as the 3-pack, go for nearly an arm and a leg. I get that DDG is the new dance line but I also remember seeing Gloom Beach and the first Dead Tired wave mixed in with the newer beach/sleep lines and they seem to sell just fine. So, what's the deal? Why doesn't Mattel want our money? These are wanted dolls, dang it!

I hear you on this one, I was wondering the exact same things.

I think the DDG dolls were especially well done and I like them so much better than the dance/party lines since then. I didn't have the money to buy them at the time (and certainly don't have the money to pay the hugely inflated prices now on auctions) and they weren't around long enough for me to save and get them, but man would I love Lagoona's two-tone wave shoes and Clawdeen in her neon green hair.

I hope they bring the wave 1 and 2 basics back at least once a year too. It doesn't make sense to have the ghouls the look/dress same way almost every webisode and never offer the dolls that look that way again.

Everything you just said- So. Much. Word. Re-releasing, even in moderation like they've done for wave 2 Lagoona, would be a real help to collectors. I wonder if it would do any good to contact Mattel about this? They've been receptive to their fans in the past e.g., CAM torsos, Cupid, and basic Abbey.

DotD wave 1 was actually kind of a shelf-sitter for a while around here, but wave 2 was beyond impossible to find.  I did find Deuce... and passed on him; bad move!  Lagoona and Ghoulia I never saw in-store, but I did buy them from Mattel's on-line shop, so that wasn't so bad, but I'm still kicking myself over passing Deuce up.

So, yeah, it would be nice to see a re-release of at least wave 2 of DotD, particularly Deuce.

Oh crud, I meant DotD (Dawn of the Dance, the first dance line they released a while back, where Lagoona had a seahorse-hair look going on and Clawdeen had a neon green bob 'do) is the one that I like the best and didn't stick around long enough, not DDG (Dot Dead Gorgeous, the new line out right now). I get mixed up with acronyms sometimes.

I don't really like Dot Dead Gorgeous (I'm not buying any of them) but I do wish they would re-release Dawn of the Dance, I would buy a few of those.

I've been praying for a Dawn of the Dance rerelease since I started collecting Monster High last December. I have Deuce, Ghoulia and Lagoona thanks to a forum member here. I'm desperate for a 3 pack with Draculaura tho. Le sigh.
I want the dotd 3 pack as well... I had bought it last year, but ended up returning it to get the 3 dolls basic versions instead. I am so freaking mad at myself now, I want that Draculaura so bad :( But I am not paying scalpers prices.

the DOTD waves one and two used the same assortment number (like all of the MH basics, etc)  so if a store like TRU has a ton of the first wave, their computer tells them they don't need to reorder....that's the tricky thing with Mattel's numbering system and future waves of an existing pruduct/assortment number.

Like another poster said, wave one at some point became a shelf sitter and sort of dead stock.  They were everywhere for a while here.... so if the store has a ton of it, they're not gonna reorder more.

Walmart seems to be particularly bad with restocks....  I swear I saw the DOTD exclusive pack there once, and that was it! :(

That was me who mentioned the thing about wave 1 DotD gathering dust on shelves.  I actually got my DotD Cleo from TRU for half price; I think it was the only way TRU was able to move them!  Given that, and what you mentioned, no wonder they were gun shy about ordering more (dangit).

it wasn't even about getting in the new dolls-- just that their computer said that they had plenty in stock.... but it was the old stuff in stock :(  I think I got my DOTD at blow out prices too... maybe from Target...  but of cours that's also back when MH was popular, but not insane like it is now...lol
