As a new member to the site, I think a little "ice-breaker" is appropriate.
I am a "vintage" doll collector and clothing designer - meaning, I am vintage, my dolls are both new and vintage.
Because I just was informed that I am to be a grandma for the first time in the spring of 2016, I picked the name "Grandmonster Jane" for this website. Actually, this is the first doll website I have ever joined... even though I have been "online" and designing doll clothes for many years.
I live in the Midwest, in Illinois to be exact, and we are gearing up for the end of fall and the start of winter. Winter is great until Christmas is over. Then it looses the "oh, look it's snowing, isn't it pretty" effect. But, as one of my sons says, "You have to have the winter to appreciate summer." (Easy for him to say, he lives in southern California!)
I have always loved dolls, since I was a little girl - and particularly making clothes for them. I learned at a young age how to sew, crochet, knit, and all the other textile arts that have now just become known as crafts. I really don't care for that general term. I think the loss of Home Ec in school has done a great injustice to generations of young girls who may never discover that they have a talent for design.
One of my favorite things is to make an entire wardrobe for a doll, complete with underthings, and sweaters. It is just so cute to see all the little outfits and interchange them. Even better is giving the set to a child who may not have ever had a doll, much less a complete trouseau! If I can add a trunk or case to hold all of the pieces, even better!
That's enough about me for today!
About these Monster High dolls.. I have seen them and purchased a couple, but when I saw these 28" beauties I just could not resist! I have had a wonderful time designing and making clothes for them. I listed the two pictures on ebay and immediately heard from a collector that there are not many clothes offered for the dolls - she is currently bidding on both outfits. I make these for the love of making them. If I sell them and make someone else happy, that is incentive for me to continue.
I will also be giving one of these dolls, along with clothes to a little girl I know for Christmas this year.
I hope to get to know some of you, who are clearly devoted to the Monster High doll world!
Have a wonderful day!
