Ever After High? A Monster High Spinoff? EDIT: New Trademarks!

Today on Facebook, Monster High announced that Cupid is leaving Monster High for a new assignment from Olympus. A little investigating into Cupid's radio show (http://www.monsterhigh.com/cupid-radio-show) shows her revealing some links about her new home.

Each link leads to a new website, where you're prompted to look through a giant keyhole at a new fantasy-based environment. They all seem to tie together as a part of "the Village of Bookend."

Here are the links Cupid has dropped so far:

http://www.rewritedestiny.com/

http://www.villageofbookend.com/

So, what can this mean? A Monster High spinoff? Something completely different altogether?

Edit:  It seems that the music looped on those linked websites indicates the name of the brand is "Ever After High."

Edit 2:  Sadie Skeletol found the following info:

I did a total search on Matt Soloman's trademarks for anything possibly related and here's what I got.

Pets:

  • Pesky, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Nevermore, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR (god I love the sound of that...)
  • Gala, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Mr. Cottonhorn, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Earl Grey, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Divacorn, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Barber, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR (Makes me think of Rapunzel and her long hair)
  • Carmine, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Carroloo, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
  • Sandella, TOY FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR

We can surely guess characters from all the pet names like Sandella makes me think of the Sandman.

Character Slogans (likes those on the MH basic boxes like "water, water, everywhere... awesome!")?:

  • Charmed I'm Sure, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Just right, never wrong, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Don't worry, just smile, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Honest to goodness, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Life's a Dream, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS (more to fill my Sandman theory)
  • Overlooking the obvious, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Most fabulous one of all, TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS (Snow White, duh)

Characters:

  • Poppy O'Hair (March Hare or Rapunzel's twins?), TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Holly O'Hair (twin sister to Poppy?), TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Lizzie Hearts (Queen of Hearts, duh), TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS
  • Riddlish (or completely unrelated), TOYS, GAMES AND PLAYTHINGS

Unless I really missed something, this has come out of nowhere! It definitely looks like a spinoff of MH, built around the fantasy-based Village of Bookend. The emphasis on books seems to suggest a book tie-in of some sort (maybe YA novels like the MH ones), and the small art flourishes adorning the keyholes and seen in the backgrounds of the environments suggests dolls will be involved as well! If you follow the "rotating view" of the scenes, you can spot a few numbers (or codes), in the background. Definitely curious about this! I'm digging the style of the environments (hooray for flash over CG!), and, this being Mattel, I have faith that if there really are dolls involved they have the potential to be just as good as the MH dolls. But so far the heavier emphasis is on books, not dolls. Maybe it'll be a sort of American Girl-type situation, with the focus on books, but with a doll line connected, as well. We'll find out more next week! Pretty exciting!

Yeah, I'm genuinely curious as I can't recall any trademarks being registered that raised flags about this or hints of what it might entail. I especially want to know what it means for Cupid.

Cupid asks what people would like to see in her vlog, which suggests a web series of some kind.

Hm....they've had a lot of success with Monster High and Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse doing webisodes, so maybe this series is going to follow the same path.  Cupid hints that the plotline involves "Royals vs. Rebels," so we may be seeing something with more conflict than those previous webseries'.

A spinoff webseries sounds very cool. Of course, in my usual way, I'm thinking way big! Probably too big lol. I'd like to see dolls and stuff, not just a webseries.

I'm wondering if this is going to be a Princess thing.  I see a 'girl head' logo pretty prominent in all of the pictures and I could almost imagine a narrative about a princess who falls in love with a rebel and wants to change her destiny to be with him....But I'm probably waaaaaay off base  XP

I don't know, based on what's been revealed that sounds like a more than plausible theory! We see the castle, the mention of royalty, and hints at changing destiny. And since it's headed by Cupid, who very much can change destiny (when it comes to love), it all sounds entirely possible.

Since its an MH spinoff I'm imagining this as a fantasy or fairy tale version of MH. Perhaps instead of each character being daughters of monsters they will be daughters (probably princesses) of fairy tale creatures, such as the daughter of the Fairy King or the mermaid daughter of Poseidon or something? When MH was doing all those trademarks for different high schools didn't they do one that would fit this theme?

Whether it's MH-related, a spinoff, or whatever - I'm interested! I've always been into fairytales and the scenery looks really nice. The chance that any dolls (if any) are connected to MH makes it even more exciting. I'd love to see some non-monstery fantasy creatures with MH proportions! Even if it's just a web series, I'll still be keeping an eye on it.

Wow!! I'm super excited for this, my guess is that it is indeed a fairytale spinoff. I really hope there are dolls tied to this and that they share the same bodies as the MH girls. One can dream...
I remember hearing this was a 'princess' year for doll lines.
Maybe we could be getting a Scarily Ever After wave 2 type of doll line.
If we do..I WANT CLEO AS RAPUNZEL AND LAGOONA AS THE LITTLE MERMAID.
YOU UNDERSTAND MATTEL?
Well, now I wonder if those old trademarks for Luna high and such had anything to do with this?
