News and Reviews of Monster High Dolls, Plush Toys, and More!

So there are many many threads about your favourite dolls / characters. But what are the dolls you don't like? For example, you don't like the hair, you thought the idea was cool but the execution of it was awful, the box art was better than the actual doll, that kind of thing.

I'll start: I really don't like the Gloom Beach dolls. The idea is fine, the box art is lovely, but the dolls don't seem to do it for me. Also, Lagoona's hair, on her Wave 1 Basic. I am actually afraid to touch it.

Go on and describe, people! :D

Any beach ones I'm not really fond of, I dunno why lol. Also Clawdeen and Cleo De Nile don't really tickle my fancy haha xD!

DotD Clawdeen. WHY. WHY THE GREEN HAIR. In fact, almost none of the Clawdeens' seems to appeal to me. I guess it's because I'm studying to be a character/concept designer myself, but it almost feels like they haven't settled into a style for Clawdeen yet. Frankie has a good schoolgirl thing, Ula D has a tarted-up victorian Lolita-lite thing, etc. Clawdeens' basic was weird, mostly because of that strange skirt, which was MUCH more Draculaura or Spectras' style. It's a purple tutu with tulle! I would have much preferred a short denim skirt with that. Since I started, I might as well go down the list:

-DotD Clawdeen came down to styling for me. I did NOT understand the green hair, since it didn't seem to suit Clawdeens' hip-hop fashion royalty sensibilities. I could have gotten behind it if it was say streaks, or a Nicki Minaj-like underdye, but as is, it was a weird green helmet wig.

-GB Clawdeen wasn't as bad, but I didn't get the weird coverup or the rainbowiness of it. Maybe an ombre of two colors, but the CMYK thing didn't seem right.

-School's Out Clawdeen was the only one I liked without question. The pop of teal with the belt and the high pony were awesome, and this was the only Clawdeen that felt "right." Come to think of it, I like most of the School's Out dolls better than the basics.

-Sweet 1600 Clawdeen, CHRIST ALMIGHTY I am not liking this. Clawdeen's built for something slinky and edgy, maybe a tight sheath with a low back, with a tight bolero and they have her dressed up like Janelle Monae and Liberaces' daughter. Not a fan at all.

The other one I am not liking is Clawd. The Wolf siblings up until now (because I love Howleens' style without reservations) have been weirdly erratic. Clawd's bio says he's taking fashion tips from Clawdeen, which would explain SO MUCH. He feels like an easy going, sporty jock, with a touch of preppy. I can see him in a sweater vest with jeans, and I even like the shows' look, with that dress shirt and the varsity jacket. His basic though, went straight to fashion victim Jason Mraz in boots. And the Sweet 1600! I like the mohawk and the pants, but his jacket looks like a robe, the contrasting collar is HORRENDOUS, why is it scalloped when has that ever looked good on anyone over 6, and his shoes look like rain boots.

Aside from those two, Cleo's tinsel. Anyone who has ever owned a Cleo will understand my plight.

This might be me, but I feel that Clawdeen's style indeed is "all over her place". Like the character is supposed to have a wardrobe full of clothes and goes through it, mixing and matching specifically to come up with something no one else did before, including herself. Except maybe for her SO outfit, everything Clawdeen has worn is different and a little shocking, but not at all bad taste - exactly what I'd expect in a fierce fashionista. She's got the pluck to make her outfits work, whether they include green hair, a tutu or whatever you'd call a mix of tux and blue leopard-print jeans, and that attitude is the character's style.

I don't like Spectra at all. I also don't like Sweet 1600 Clawdeen, her clothes are just too manly. Dawn of the dance Clawdeen's hair doesn't do it for me either.

Skulls Shores Ghoulia: There's nothing about her that I like. Her concept should have been thought out more

Basic and Sweet 1600 Clawd: Poor Clawd. I like the doll, but the clothes are horrendous! It's like they just threw his clothes together with no thought. Why didn't they give him his letterman jacket like he has on in the webisodes?

DotD Clawdeen: The hair! Ugh. And Clawdeen's my favorite doll of the series!

dead tired cleo's clothes are kinda boring, but i love her slippers

I'm not too much a fan of the Dead Tired Line. It's just... too much alike. All of them is trousers and T-shirts. Couldn't they throw a gown in there? Or one of those linnen Egyptian dresses for Cleo?

Also never was a fan of Wave 2 Draculaura. That wasn't a dress, that was a circus tent.

I'm gonna get a lot of flak for this... but Sweet 1600 Draculaura and Frankie don't really do it for me either. Their dresses are just too... poofy. Not my style. Thank God for the Wolf siblings for being totally awesome in this line and saving it from a complete disaster. (Yes, I actually like Sweet 1600 Clawd. With just a few retouches on the hair, he'll be the most fabulous Manster on my shelf.)

                                                                    i agree!

I can't stand DOTD Clawdeen's hair. I like the green... It's just that strange brown streak in the back.

Breaking the streak by saying I LOVE Clawdeen's green hair. That's the kind of wild daring stuff I gravitated towards this line for in the first place.

The Dead Tired dolls.  I don't care much for their faces, if that made sense. I don't know, something about them bugs me. Not too big on the Gloom Beach attire either, save for Jackson.

Heh, guess I'm the only person that likes Clawdeen's Sweet 1600 outfit. Not my favorite outfit of them all, but I do like the whole tuxedo thing. I think it's a good move, considering how I can't really imagine her wearing a dress like the ones Draculaura and Frankie are wearing. Makes her "stand out a bit more" to me.

As far as characters go, as cute as her outfits are to me, I'm not really a fan of Frankie Stein. She's my least liked female character out of them all.

Both Wave 1 Basic Cleo and GB Cleo just don't appeal to me, but the Wave 2 Basic Cleo and DT Cleo are lovely dolls in my opinion. I know they all have the same head mold, but the Basic 2 and DT Cleos just have a more modern but still freaky fabulous mummy fashion. I also strongly dislike the Wave 1 Basic Frankie doll because I think she was poorly done.I love Abbey Bominable as she is a very complex and unique character aswell as Operetta and Spectra. As dolls all three were very well potrayed and well-made.

You're not alone. Clawdeen's Sweet 1600 Outfit ROCKS.
