News and Reviews of Monster High Dolls, Plush Toys, and More!

Hi everyone.  I just wanted to let you all know that you may want to try looking in places you may not normally think of to find Monster High dolls.  There are the major retailers such as K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Target, Kohls, and Toys R Us, but there are also other stores that may carry them too.

While I have not found any Monster High dolls at Big Lots I have seen them at Factory 2 U and Fallas (if you have those or other discount stores in your area.)  I got 3 Picture Day dolls for $10 each!

I have also found some older basic dolls from Swim Class and Dead Tired at different Walgreens in my area (between all 5 stores I saw the entire Waves of both lines, which surprised me since it is now 2014 and they are a little older.)

I also saw a lot of Monster High dolls at Barnes and Noble.  They had I Heart Shoes Draculaura and Cleo plus all of the Ghouls Alive dolls and many older Scaris dolls that are rare (both basic and not.)  They were also at a very good price!

Other finds were at Ross and Marshalls.  So you may want to check everywhere on your next doll hunting trip.  I found them at places I didn't really expect to see any at.

Good luck!

I saw a Twyla at FYE a few weeks ago. She looked lonely there all by herself XD

I know this has been said before, but when thinking of "small stores" don't forget the grocery store if they have a toy aisle/area no matter how small it is. (The local store by me has only one aisle for toys) My Kroger today had both the Die-Ner with Draculaura & the 13 Wishes Oasis set for $15, budget Scaris & Swim Class for $5 and Deluxe Scaris for $11.  They also had Catty, basic Rochelle & GNO (none of those were on clearance though, like the others--$20 to $25).  Previously, I've picked up Ghouls Rule for $10--way before the big stores had them for that same price, and many other random clearance/close-out deals.  Yes, I know most of these lines are old, but hey, if you don't already have them...

I only picked up the Die-Ner, since it was a good deal (and DD already has the others) bringing my gift stash up to 4, not counting the SC Shiver I bought her for Valentines Day tomorrow.

I went out with intent for searching this kind of thing just yesterday!

CVS is also known to carry MH dolls and in my area we have a bookstore called BAM! (apparently stands for books-a-million) and they had a respectable section of not just dolls but booklets and random merch as well as a big stand of Ghoul Spirit and slim case FCA dolls. They were a bit higher in price than I'd like to see but that store is mostly selling them by "convenience" prices, meaning they feel they're doing you a favor for offering those items so you have to pay extra. This logic is terribly flawed in a town as large as concord where there is a Wal Mart, Target, TRU, and a mall with a Justice right up the street.

In the meantime you guys that have them at your local grocery store are so lucky! I live in a pretty small town so the concept for my Market Basket getting real toys instead of tiny dollar store baubles is like amazing XD

In my experience the smaller stores usually have higher prices...maybe that's just around here in the Richmond, VA area.  ??  Never found any good deals at CVS, Wahlgreens, various dollar stores, etc.  Where I usually score my best deals - walking in to Target or Walmart, and online at the usual places.

Not all smaller stores have higher prices in my area.  Some are reasonable and definitely less than scalpers would charge lol  A couple of them may charge $5 or so more, but some of the dolls are also older and harder to find in my area, so the $5 is worth it because it would be $20+ online at ebay or Amazon.  I guess it depends on the area and store.
