News and Reviews of Monster High Dolls, Plush Toys, and More!

Well it's time for another of my custom dolls, hope you guys like her :)

Well my name is Mechanickov Time, daughter and creation of Father Time. My mother is Russian hence the name but i was born in Victorian England in 1878. I'm 90% clockwork but i was born human, after a tragic incident my Father brought be back to life and reconstructed me, i'm thankful for every second that i live. My style is victorian steampunk. I have to be wound up twice a year to make sure that i don't stop which is a bit of a pain and at times you can hear my cogs turning if i'm thinking too hard. I have a clockwork robin that i made as a pet, i love making things tick. My favourite subject at MH is heavy metal work, i'm the only girl in a class full of boys...it's a hard life :)

I like going to steampunk conventions, it makes me feel at home.

I hate it when people call me a robot, It's so ignorant.

I love the colour antique gold and my favourite proverb is "At least a stopped clock tells the correct time twice a day" So true.

Beautiful!  What kind of paint did you use on the belt?  Did you seal it?  I adore the rusty red hair.  Very lovely!

~Bride

Thank you. i used arcylic paint on the belt and yes i used an acylic sealer on it :)

Aww man... I've been working on a character design and even bought an extra Spectra to turn into a Steampunk Character. LOL! So when you see mine... I didn't steal from you. You just beat me to the punch! :P

This is beautiful... amazing job!

P.S. I went to the "Wild Wild West" Steampunk Convention in Arizona... it was amazing! If you haven't seen these guys... check out "League of Steam"! http://www.leagueofsteam.com/ :)

I commented on one of your pictures already, but I couldn't resist, so I will comment here too:

She is very pretty, and of a very unique origin. I love the gears on her face and her mini hat :) You really are my favorite custom maker ever! :D

She is gorgeous! You did a very good job on her!

If she was an actual doll I know I would buy her!!

Thank you to all of you for the really nice comments.

I'll try and answer the questions, I use acrylic paints, it was a blend of brown and white for her eye colour and i use a very small thin brush. i painted her eye colour first, then i gave her black pupils once that was dry i gave her some reflection marks with a lighter brown, then i painted the white around her eyes. The make up is a metallic gold acrylic.

As for the glue in the uk it's called PVA but i've had a look and i think that Elmers is the same thing, just white glue that kids use in school. The cogs stuck on quite well but i have to be careful when handling her, i lost two cogs off her boots when i took the photo's in the garden, can't find them!!

The reroot was my second doll that i've done. It's not hard but it's a killer on the fingers. I can't seem to pace myself very well and i'll just spend all evening doing it!! If you are patient enough then i would recomend doing a reroot, it gives you a good feeling seeing it finished and saying to yourself  "i did that :)"

By the way i use the method of getting the hair and knotting it in the middle, you get more hair for your money.

As for you O'Crabby your's better not be better than mine :) I don't know what it was but i looked at Spectra and she screamed steampunk. Her skin tone fits beautifully with the steampunk look. Then i was stuck on what she could be and then i thought about all the cogs and father time seemed a good choice. i'm intrigued to see what yours will be like.

I'm quite new to steampunk but i just love the overall idea and look. i don't have any clothes but i wish i did :)

ooo lala!!!! niiice!!! :D

Oh it won't be... I never seem to finish anything I start anyway.

I have 3 other "OC" dolls in various stages of the process gathering dust on my kitchen table... LOL!

You have to finish your dolls, i really want to see them. Your art work is gorgeous and i'm sure your dolls would be just the same.
