Has anyone else read the book? I actually really liked it a lot and I am impatiently waiting for the second one to come out in April. The reason I'm bringing this up is because I really wish Mattel would make a Melody Carver doll. Jackson is supposed to be a normie, and even though he is technically a monster when he turns into DJ (Holt), they still made the normie version of him. Why not Melody? She's one of the main characters in the book, she's dating Jackson, and according to the description of the the new book that is coming out in April, she is going to be friends with the monsters and help them to come out of hiding safely. It even says something about Melody having more in common with the group than she actually thought. So I'm sort of wondering if that means she is somehow actually a monster too and just doesn't know it? But anyway, she's kind of an important character in the book, and I just wish they would cross her over into the rest of the series, like they did with Jackson.

I think there won't be a Melody Carver doll because I think they hired the author and said you must use these characters as monsters:
Frankie Stein
Draculaura
Clawdeen Wolf
Lagoona Blue
Cleo de Nile
Deuce Gorgon
Jackson Jekyll
DJ Hyde (I'm guess before he was a doll he was originally DJ not Holt)
Clawd Wolf
Heath Burns (he's in the book but he's not known as a monster to us yet)
and a bunch of others
And then gave her complete freedom to do whatever she wanted which includes Melody Carver. She was the author's idea not Mattel's. I do like the books, but the dolls and the book are two different universes.

I'm not sure about Jackson being a normie technically. He just doesn't know he's a monster.
Mattel probably got the doll line sorted, hired Lisi, said "These are your characters." and then she wandered off and did her own thing with them causing much headaches for Mattels development team.
I'd take the cartoon as canon and the book as non-canon. Melody Carver sounds quite monstery. In my mind, she'd be the daughter of Sweeny Todd. (Not a monster, but a brilliant horror character. Specially when played by Johnny Depp...)

Well since the next book will have chapters about Cleo there's hope.

My only problem with the book was that Ghoulia wasn't in it!
I read/Listen to the book and it was AWESOME!
I too cant wait till the next one comes out to find out what happens next.
In regards to Melody Carver lilibit008 I thinks she feels that she "WAS or IS" because she didn't fit in h...
We have to remember Mattel Bought the rights to the Characters in the Book so the show we see on youtube and the book have nothing to do with each other really.
IN the book Monsters Hide and in the cartoon they go to a School FOR Monsters.
Basically Mattel Taking the rights to a book and making it a big Money Making Franchise.
@iLoveGhoulia
I know, right? Ghoulia's my fave too, I was disappointed she was left out. But I'm hopeful she will be in the next one.
@Sunnie
Yeah, that actually makes more sense to me, that Mattel bought the rights to the characters from the book and not the other way around with them hiring Lisi to write about it and stuff. Personally, I prefer the storyline in the book. The webisodes are cute and everything, but I think the plot in the book is more interesting. Maybe it's just me though...
Anyway, I can't wait for the second book to come out. And even though everything doesn't line up exactly, I still feel like Melody deserves to be dolled. Perhaps Mattel will eventually decide the same.
