News and Reviews of Monster High Dolls, Plush Toys, and More!

While exploring the various links provided by fellow fans, I found something that mentions the possibility of a larger-sized collector quality line:  Novas coleções e dolls/New Collections and Dolls.

From what I could translate from the text written in Portuguese:

In 2015, Monster High will have a new collection … by the looks will be 'monstrinhas' in its basic version and this time with excellent quality, as every collector wants.  The measures are 50cm/19inches for normal dolls, dolls 45cm for the size of Howleen and 55-60cm for the size of Nefera dolls.

What is the story behind this?

hmmm. am very wanting to find out more

Can't say the source screams of reliability, but I would love to see some larger Monster High dolls.  The larger the doll, the better they are for displaying.  Since I love creating displays, that would be perfect for me.

Though I imagine it would drive the price up to "maybe on my next paycheck" to "most definitely unattainable" were they to do this.

Are those smaller dolls in the presentation already available or are they a future product?  I had no idea they existed and now I want one. D:

The big dolls are happening. If you take a look at the Monster High section of Mattel's shareholders presentation you can see a picture demonstrating the size difference between the vinyls, regular dolls, and the new larger dolls, but no description is given:

Presumably you actually would have needed to be at the presentation to get the details on these larger dolls.

Oh my gosh!  Those are just adorable! <3  Kind of shabbily-painted but great nonetheless!  Can't wait to see them when they come out!

You are in luck, Tara, because Mattel just released a video for them today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJ_yt2SESeE&feature=youtu.be

They are not out yet, but should be out soon.

So basically they are doing something similar to Disney's LE line of larger dolls..... nice. I wonder if that will spill over into SDCC and we will see a regular sized doll as well as a larger one at the con.

The silhouette image implies that the larger dolls are simply scaled up versions of the originals.  I wasn't sure if the larger-sized line would be a completely new take on the characters, such as Disney's Animators' Collection of princess toddlers.

I am looking forward to the larger dolls, the price on the other hand not so looking forward, as the Disney LE ones are really expensive they hiked their prices up since last year, I believe so anyway.

but where will be sold? I can't really see all kinds of stores carrying out limited edition dolls, there is the shelf space.

so I am guessing but I could be wrong, that these will probably be exclusives, could be to a store, or online I am hoping store, I think it's best for all us if they are in store, because if they are going to be pricey we need to make sure the quality is top notch, there is no guarantee online, speaking from experience ordered limited edition set from the Disney store it arrived in poor condition box was damaged and broken, so to avoid things like this from happening then it's probably best to look at them in person before purchase, as that is always a great way to check eye wonk anyway, but in store they have the risk of shelf sitting due to the price possibly being high.

depending on the price and how many they make I would love to have them all, but I don't where I would put them, depending on how limited edition they are, these might just be better kept in box, of course everybody is different and can open them if they wish, and I might even.

maybe it will be a good idea if they bring them out every year making each character but I don't know if they would.

I really hope they do Spectra I would be getting her no matter the cost of course, I also hope we see at least one boy but that's probably not going to happen, I wonder what characters we will see.

I can't wait to see them when they are revealed.

I'd like to get spectra, cupid if they do a mh one again, jackson and holt those are my top picks. Of chose if they're not fully articulated I'll be disappointed.

Well...that's me starting saving up...

I hope they make them fully articulated and maybe have set eyes or lashes... The little touches that'll make them just to die for! I can't wait to know more, this is SO exciting!!

I'm not sure I'm down with this. I can't quite put my finger on why though.

If they really are high end collector quality (with stands! I can't emphasize that enough) and I really like them alot,I might get some. It really falls or stands with the quality.

Already had a talk with the husband and he'd be ok with me displaying a couple in the living room where we have some space on top of a display cabinet perfect for this size collectibles. So that's settled.

So, I'm potentially interested in a Frankie, Ghoulia and Operetta. Husband wants me to add Draculaura (yeah, she's his favorite :D) so she'd most likely join too ;)

Anybody else potentially interested in particular characters? Or just one? Or all? Or planning to skip this entirely?

I really hope they are giants "big-as-a-kid" dolls and not collectors edition with accurate clothes/buttons/chains etc... just because i really can't end up buying all of them again. If they are giants for kids I'm ok with that, i don't care about those.

Also, whatever they do, i doubt they'd go beyond the original line up or the most famous characters (spectra, abbey) so i really don't think howleen or nefera are to be seen. I don't know where the measurement info came out of, the presentation had just a scaled image, i think the blog made them up...
