HEY MATTEL- Can the FANS get a chance to BUY SCARAH, TOO? SDCC sighting RANT

I don't complain much....but this is RIDICULOUS....

Mattel- Are you driving up your bottom line by making the dolls scarce and allowing DEALERS privileged buying at the COMIC CON? Do you honestly think that this is BENEFICIAL to YOU?

Mattel is allowing dealers at the convention to buy Scarah before the "average joe"....that's right, THE OTHER DEALERS and their family members have privilege to buy before the public and are causing the sell outs of the (piddly 100 dolls per day) allotment of dolls. It was bad enough that people with fake and photocopied badges were allowed to buy dolls, but how do you honestly expect middle class collectors (and poor kids) to buy your DOLLS? It is marketing and advantage tactics like this that make me want to sell my entire collection and say "MONSTER BYE".

WE AS FANS have hired an ACTUAL COLLECTOR to spend his time and money (almost $2000) to go to the Convention to help us get these dolls at a price FAR lower than Ebay. AND WE AS FANS are getting SCREWED! (pardon my french) because he has no access to the dolls.

PROOF you want?

Here's the beginning....and I will continue to upload as I get them:

Dealer #1:  (you will note that he has more than the 6 doll allotment)

and he actually COMPLAINED that he was shorted 2 dolls.....hmmmmm

It's things like this that totally kill a line whether it be dolls or action figures or anything.  Hopefully they will be listed on mattycollector.com like last years exclusive so we can all get a chance at getting her.

Help me understand.  I thought on Matty collector you could prepay for up to 6 dolls for person and pick them up at the convention.  Please explain the 100 doll allotment?  - I know little about comic con

Well that's just messed up. D:< Why bother getting the fans' hopes up in getting Scarah if they're just gonna sell them beforehand to dealers before opening. It's wrong and unfair.
I sure hope they have some up for sale on MattyCollector later.
Omfg now that is just ridiculous honestly why do you need more than one doll the highest I'm going yo say he needs is either one or two not even that and it's wrong that they allow scalpers to do that he's in his 30's just about I'm gonna say and he is so in need of dolls that he buys 4 freaking boxes of dolls that what's going to cause the downfall of monster high because of crud like this and I'm mad because why don't they put limits on dolls and it's sad that he complained because he was missing 2 smh and they don't leave any for others because apparently someone overheard that they are keeping dolls on the side which is not right unless they sell them at a reasonable price and not keep to them selves and in all it's just unesscesary
I believe at SDCC, each person can buy up to six Scarah sets, and only 100 of the sets are going to be available each day at the con booth. So assuming (worst cast scenario) each person actually buys six sets each, more or less the first....15 or so people would get the sets.
I could be wrong, though.

You can buy 6 dolls per person before the convention and you can buy them (i think the allotment is 4 per person per day) there as well.....the pick up for the pre-orders are in a completely different building
....The 100 doll allotment is the number of dolls that Mattel is selling at the counter. Our collector is standing in line to get dolls for people on his waiting list and he is watching all the dolls get bought out by vendors who are at the comic con and selling them at their own stands or in the street. I will upload the photos as I get them.

It costs A LOT of money to buy tickets/gas/plane fare/hotel/parking/lunch for 5 days....our collector is trying to help people save money and buy his allotment every day of the Convention in order to get them to the fans. He charged $12 per doll for the early buyers and $15 per doll fee to his buyers. That's $37-$40 per doll.....you can't find that price anywhere else....NOT EVEN AT THE CONVENTION. Now many of us collectors may not get our dolls and we will be stuck praying that MAtty Collector has some after the convention and if so, that Matty Collector doesn't sell out in 30 seconds like the dolls at the comic con. Ghoulia sold out last year in 1 hour on Matty Collector and Monster High was not nearly as popular.

I know that Mattel has employees who read this forum/website and I want them to know that WE pay their bills.....and some of us may BOYCOTT the company after this garbage.

UPDATE--I have been told that the allotment is 6 per person. Vendors are allowed in line before collectors....100 divided by 6 is roughly 17 people will get dolls.....and the vendors can bring their family in line. The odds aren't good for "average joe" collectors like us.

Thanks for putting it in perspective.  I understand and AGREE.

What she is saying is ALL TRUE, anybody who didnt purchase any during preview night, you have NO LUCK.

The exhibitors and proffesionals who are in line BEFORE the public can get in get all the dolls before ANYONE.

Case in point:

Thursday we got to the Mattel booth at 9:49am, Scarah SOLD OUT.

Friday morning mad dash again, arrived at 9:40, Scarah SOLD OUT.

This morning, hubby made a MAD DASH got there SUPER early, 9:35AM, Scarah SOLD OUT.

Im not gonna bother tomorrow.

The con is open to the public at 9:30, and then you have to dash above the crowds.

Forget it.  What saddens me is all the little girls with their moms who are wanting to get a Scarah doll, who ACTUALLY attended the convention, who CANNOT do this mad dash to the Mattel booth(and even if they tried wont get one) And couldnt get one.

Why 6 per person?  Why not 2???  Why not stash a case and sell it in the afternoon?  Why 100 dolls only???  Worst. Sellout. Ever.

I do wish that the limit would be 2 instead of 6. I can understand 2 maybe 3 because some people open one and keep one in box and possibly can get one for a friend but 6?

Actually, this is not true -- dolls are only being sold to people with paid attendee badges.

Now, if you are an exhibitor and you get in early AND you bought a paid badge so you could buy dolls, yes, maybe you are getting in ahead by gaming their stupid system.

But professionals are being refused when they try to buy from Mattel. I know a professional who wasn't allowed to buy a character they worked on (not MH) because they only had a pro badge, that's how strict they're being.

Personally, I think they should limit them to 1 per person if they want to make it somehow special and exclusive. A professional or exhibitor with a kid (who didn't make special plans to be a scalper) can't buy one -- but they have to watch the scalpers buy 6 at a time to sell on ebay? That is just lame. Bringing only 100 a day to a con with thousands of MH fans? Lame. Revealing nothing but exclusives that will be a struggle to get? Lame. The anti-fan behavior is just boggling my mind. The past few days have really flatlined my love for the series as a whole.
