News and Reviews of Monster High Dolls, Plush Toys, and More!

Read this first to put things into context. I live in the Philippines and Monster High is not available here (yet). I've been able to buy toys from the US and shipped to me before via a "shopping service." It's basically like a P.O. box in the US and once it's full the contents will be shipped to Manila where I can claim them. Since I do not personally receive my packages, I rely on Delivery Confirmation to keep track of them.

I purchased several Monster High dolls from Amazon.com last week and had them shipped to my US address. Like all of my orders from Amazon.com prior, it was shipped via USPS with delivery confirmation. It's my habit to check the status of my packages regularly and by March 22, 2010, the package was already "Out for Delivery," but after that, it showed up as, "Delivery status not updated." (see below)

Label/Receipt Number: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX

I found out that this means there hasn't been a tracking update for 14 hours since the package was tagged "Out for delivery," which means either the package was delivered but wasn't scanned upon delivery or the item wasn't delivered and is unaccounted for. I really hope it's the former and not the later. I'm really worried that my package is maybe lost or worse, was stolen. I've actually gotten used to Delivery Confirmation not giving status while the package is in transit. I've even had packages before with only two tracking activities; "Electronic Shipping Info Received" and then "Delivered" but this is the first time one of my packages didn't show "Delivered." The whole point of Delivery Confirmation is so you know if your package had arrived at its destination and in this case that's the one missing. I'm now waiting for word from the people that receive my mail in the US to see if they received my package or not. I'm hoping for the best but the wait is killing me.

Has anyone here encountered this "Delivery status not updated" status before? What happened afterward? Please share your experience with this ambiguous and disconcerting message from USPS.

I have not experienced "Delivery Status not updated" before, but have actually experienced "Delivered" once and never actually received the package (in the U.S.). The post office frankly didn't care despite several visits from me and a complaint form. So, I guess I would say that "Delivery Status not updated" sounds more hopeful to me than "Delivered." I hope you get your package. I also generally try to avoid letting the USPS deliver anything special that I would worry about these days. I pay the extra cost to have UPS or Fed Ex deliver if I have the option.

It's been a week now since my package showed "Delivery Status not updated" and word from my shopping service is that the package wasn't delivered; it's officially lost. I contacted Amazon and they said if the package still doesn’t arrive by April 4th they'll send me replacements for the items I ordered. I hope they really do; those are $72 worth of dolls and one of them isn't even mine. First shipping nightmare of 2011; checked.

That's really good news that they will send replacements! I really hope you don't have any future troubles, Gene.

Yes USPS is not as tight with the tracking as UPS and FedEx, but USPS is cheaper. If your service does not get the parcel you can make a claim with Amazon.
