Went to the Super Walmart in Levettown PA  searching for Christmas gifts for people. Found C.A. Cupid instead. Not a fan of the doll but I love love the dolls outfit. I like wings the best with its spine backing. I would't purcase this off ebay because I get the feeling they are going to be easy to find.(I never find stuff just released)For a Walmart they had a pretty nice selection of S1600 dolls. They just didn't have 1600 Frankie.

I just bought her! I'm so excited! Found at a Walmart in PA for $20.01 total.

Notable: Wings are not silver, they are very slightly antiqued gold over white. Wings are removable, attach at the neck, but there are no holes/pegs. Hair is actually kind of stiff, I wonder if this could be altered. Pattern on legs & arms is painted on, isn't actually fabric tights. Overall she has a lot of nice details, though I think I liked the promo image a little more than the result. Still a cute doll and I think very worth purchasing. :)

I saw her on ebay, if anyone wanted to know. x

Right now, ebay starting prices per doll are beyond my limit... especially since, if I can't find it here in Canada, I have someone going across the border shortly who has said they would look for it as well as my mother in law who would look if I asked.  But because I haven't yet been unable to find any of the dolls once they're released in Canada, I don't imagine I will have too much trouble finding her - especially since I've been haunting the Wal Mart every morning and making my husband check TRU every evening before he comes home.

In the book which came before either of those he is just a creepy man in a mask as well.  Hollywood may have made him a monster, but he never was originally.  At least not in the sense we are using it here.

BUT The Phantom of the Opera is considered one of the early Hollywood Monsters.

Watch the original movie from the 20s and he was more than a man in a mask!  He was a undead ghostly ghoul that haunted a theatre. He did wear a mask, but to hide his disfigured phantom face.

NEW Hollywood, with the introduction of the Musical, have tamed him into a deformed musician who wears a mask to hide his scars.

Ok my friend got her in charlotte NC at toysrus! I am so mad cause she didnt get my one but! I had no idea she part of the sweet 16 dolls! She looks great!

Are you sure she got her at TRU? I thought she was a Walmart exclusive- is that a myth?

Erik, or the Phantom of the Opera was never a monster, as written in the original novel by Gaston Leroux. He was a horribly disfigured man (from being burned), who was a prodigy in music. Andrew Lloyd Webber based his musical on the book, not the movie monster from the 20's. Hollywood turned Erik into a monster. But I'm going to agree with both people. Chaney really turned the Phantom of the Opera into one of the most iconic movie monsters from that era. I am extremely angry that Mattel turned Operetta into an "Opry" star. That pretty much disgusts me. If anything I was truly hoping for her to be French with a gorgeous flowing ball gown, or something of that sort. Something refined. Not some country singer. That is a slap in the face to Leroux's original work, plus it Americanizes her in an awful way. She should be French, not American in any way, shape, or form. I'm anxious to read the box and see her in person. I want to buy her, as I've been a fan of anything Phantom since I was a child, but there are some versions of the Phantom of the Opera that truly undermines the brilliance of the man behind the mask.
