News and Reviews of Monster High Dolls, Plush Toys, and More!

-Next year, Bloodgoods’ basic doll will come out, and is exclusive to Toys R Us. The last time we got store-exclusive basics, they came in a wave: Howleen (Target,) Cupid (Walmart,) and Meowlody and Purrsephone (Toys R Us.) I’m thinking there are going to be more new basics released at the same time as Bloodgood.

-I theorize that the basics are being presented in new ways (i.e. Skelita and Jinafire getting diaries,) namely in deluxe lines that come with books of some kind, and following this theory, a new character should be in the Picture Day line. I think it might be Invisibilly, mostly because Mattel made a big show about his doll earlier this year, and that an invisible guy in a Picture Day line is the kind of silly joke I expect from this franchise.

That sounds like a very plausible theory to me. We also have Wydowna, who was revealed with Scarah and Bloodgood last year, so I'm thinking she could be a store exclusive too.
In all honesty, I would love to see 2 couples packs much like what they did with the sisters packs. Maybe 1 store selling an AbbeyxHeath and another selling a GhouliaxSlow Moe. Though, that's just my 2 cents. ^_^

It sounds like a possibility!

It would be cool if all the Picture Day dolls came with a little card-thingy (like most the budget lines do, SS as an example) with each character's picture, then InvisiBilly's was just a beanie. I would buy that.

And, like Ravenmoon said, 2 packs are possible, too. Like the Werewolf and Werecat sisters. It's not like they haven't done it before.

That'd be hilarious, but it looks like they're sort of doing that joke with Draculaura's picture.

Me would think mattel has high hopes skelita does well then, seeing as they went through the trouble to make a totally different body mold. Though howleen's basic got such a short production run, me really dont know how she did well (maybe she sold out everytime??). Unless mattel is going by her popularity and not production.

We already saw Invisi Billy's box art, not that they couldn't package him in a different way than what was shown when he is actually released, but I'm thinking that they will continue to release some dolls like Invisi Billy as basics in the same way they usually do, and some dolls in themed lines.

My theory is that they will release the sure bet characters as traditional basics and use themed lines or store exclusives to introduce characters that they basically are trying to test market. C.A. Cupid was originally sold with Sweet 1600 only, but was so successful they also then released that slightly modified version of her as a traditional basic. Howleen was only sold initially as a Target exclusive but a year later has proven popular enough that she just got her second version. The Werecat twins I think is the same deal.

Skelita, Jinafire, and Catrine may also be characters they are using Scaris to test market. If they don't prove to be popular characters, then the MH team can say those were special one-time characters released just for the Scaris line. But if those characters become incredibly popular, then I expect they'll do more with them.

This is also really good, though I'm almost 99% certain Skelita will be a recurring character. They made a big show about her transferring to Monster High, and why would they do that if they weren't going to make more of her? Same with Nefera in Scarah and Hoodudes' journals; Why would Nefera having to come back be played up in a doll diary unless they were looking for an excuse to make more of her dolls?

Plus, I know we got into a bit of a scuffle over this Tri, no hard feelings, but if Wydona Spider is still going to come out, I'm almost 100% positive she's gotten a style makeover to be goth. And if Minnie Taur is still a thing (hopefully in a 2-pack with Manny,) she's gotten the cowgirl treatment.

Either way, I REALLY want those dolls.

also also for my minnie/manny two-pack

minnie uses the Howleen body mold and manny gets a taller and broader boy mold so the whole “manny is afraid of his sister” joke gets pushed to the best extreme
